Funeral services for Berry Norman Allen Jr. 85, of Athens have been scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Spencer officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park, Athens under the direction of Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, Athens.
Mr. Allen passed away to his heavenly home on February 9, 2018.
He was born on March 30, 1932, in the Tri-Cities Community of Henderson County to the late Berry Norman Allen Sr. and Lula Leopard Allen. Norman graduated from Cross Roads High School in 1950 and Trinity Valley Community College with an Associate's Degree in Business. He served his country in the U.S. Army and Navy for 20 plus years. He defended our country in the Korean War, Vietnam War, and 1982 Lebanon War. He was a faithful member of Central Baptist Church of Athens, Texas.
Dad cherished spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends in Texas, Maine, and South Carolina. He enjoyed attending church and dancing with his lovely wife, Winona W. Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces.
Survivors include his loving wife, Winona Allen; his son, Joel Allen, Sr. and Kathy Bonollo; his daughters, Lana Gaylene Allen and Glenda Horne, Becky Allen Mims and husband William J. Mims; grandchildren, Cassandra Allen Gifford and husband Jason Gifford, Berry Allen and Shayna Glick, Wesley Allen, Joel Allen, Jr. and Cassiopia Cloak; great grandchildren, Joel III, Ayzlynn, Daxton, Amelia, Ryker, Nixon, Cambria; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Joel Allen, Sr., Joel Allen, Jr., Wesley Allen, Will Mims, Barry Allen, Stephen Blackard.
Honorary pallbearers are Ray Feagins and Calvin Weatherly.
Visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
