Cecil Nick Barnes, 79, of Enigma passed away Monday, February 12, 2018, at Tifton Health and Rehab. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Larry Cone officiating. Mr. Barnes will be laid to rest at Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Enigma.
Anthony Barnes, Mark Purvis, Stanley Barfield, Junior Barnes, Michael Connell, Daulton McMillan, Ryan Tucker and Mason Brantley will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Purvis, Charlie Barnes, Ricky Barnes, Cecil Giddens, David Watson and Donald Bennett.
Born November 6, 1938 in Berrien County, Mr. Barnes was the son of the late Johnny B. Barnes and Clara Bryant Barnes. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jay C. Barnes and Milton Lewis Barnes; and one sister, Patricia Diane Barnes. Before retiring, he worked as a storekeeper and was a volunteer with the Enigma Fire Department and a member of Barnes Chapel in Enigma.
Mr. Barnes is survived by one brother, Larky Henry Barnes of Fitzgerald; three sisters, Betty Francis Barfield of Sandersville and Alice Barnes Jernigan and Clara Mae Purvis, both of Enigma; and many nieces and nephews.
