Charlene Helen (Ames) Byers, 91, passed away on January 9, 2018. She was born on July 3, 1926, in Danforth, the daughter of Charles and Bessie Ames.
Charlene was a graduate of the Morse High School, Class of 1943 in Bath. During World War II she worked at Bath Iron Works as a Clerk Typist. Charlene and her husband owned and operated Meatland in Danforth where she was known for her hot oven grinders and pizzas. She loved to read and knew the value of a good book. But her life really revolved around her husband and children.
She is survived by her son, David and wife, Ella, of Danforth; five grandchildren, John and Julie of Kenduskeag, Cory and Tammy of Bangor, Mark of Bradley, Richard II and Valerie of Hermon, Brent and Taylor of Bradley; five great-grandchildren, Brook, Emma, Kenneth, Elizabeth and Laklynn; daughter-in-law, Grace of Hermon; her wonderful sister, Elizabeth and Arey Golding; two special nephews, Fred and Barry Gillis and niece, Debbie Davenport. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth on September 12, 1992, and son, Richard on October 27, 2002.
