Charles Robert Parker Jr., 77, formerly of Grant Town, passed away Friday (Feb. 9, 2018) at Lawnwood Regional Hospital in St. Pierce, Florida. Charles was born in Drakesboro, Kentucky, on April 15, 1940, son of the late Charles and Mable (Cardinal) Parker.
Charles was an avid West Virginia University sports fan (especially football and basketball) and a University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball fan, keeping the tradition of his mom and dad. He was a school psychologist at McClain High School in Greenfield, Ohio, and at the Claymont School system in Uhrichsville, Ohio, and Dennison, Ohio.
Charles is survived by his first cousins, Buddy Thompson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Gary Parker of Fairmont, Gerald Parker of Fairmont, Shirley Diaz of Louisville, Kentucky, Joetta Tucker of Kentucky, Robin Parker of Monongah, Nancy Parker of Fairmont, Donna Vilar of Barrackville, Ginger Wilson of Plum Run, and Michael Parker of Farmington; nephews, Doug Woods of Fairmont, Steve Woody of Fairmont, Jeff Woods of Fredericksburg, Virginia; nieces, Judy Taylor of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Jennifer Woody Urdiales of Ohio; and a brother-in-law, Jim Woods of Phoenix, Arizona.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Avenue in Fairmont. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Brian Cole officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton at a later date.
