Donald L. Humes, 72, of Clinton, passed away, Sunday November 12, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center - North.

A Memorial gathering will be Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. The visitation will conclude with sharing of memories at 7:00pm. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting his obituary at www.snellzornig.com.

Donald Leroy Humes, Jr. was born on March 27, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Donald and Georgetta (Korb) Humes. He grew up in Allison Park, PA. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He married Noreen Kuebler on July 20, 1968; they later divorced.

Don was a carpet installer in the area for many years and enjoyed the personal connections he made working in the community. He loved motor homes and antique cars, especially his 1949 Nash, Tubby. He enjoyed attending swap meets, most of all his annual trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania every October for the past 42 years. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed many birthdays, graduations, sporting events, and dance recitals of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He also loved his other family: regularly having coffee with his friends at various diners and auto shops in the Clinton area over the decades. Don loved telling stories (many of which were tall tales based loosely on facts), cracking jokes, and sharing his many sayings and one-liners.

Don is survived by five children: Christine (Brady) Gruhn of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Valerie (Scott) Kelley of Clinton, Donald (Jaime) Humes III, of DeWitt, Iowa, Nathan (Breanne) Humes of Middleton, Idaho, and Adam (Laura) Humes of Grimes, Iowa; 13 grandchildren: Alison Kelley, Erica (James) Nelson, Aubriana Kelley, Emma Gruhn, Elliana Gruhn, Grayden Humes, Bennett
Humes, Jax Humes, Braelyn Humes, Madden Humes, Mason Humes, Charlotte Humes, and William Humes; two great-granddaughters: Sophia & Violet Nelson; his brother: Larry (Sandy) Good of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, and his sister: Judy Reiners of Beaver, Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials can be directed to the family.
