Elizabeth (Gin)'s Story
SEABROOK BEACH, NH - Elizabeth Virginia "Gin" Hopkinson of Salisbury, died after a short illness at her Seabrook Beach home surrounded by her children and grandchildren on February 10, 2018.
Born July 13, 1928 in Newburyport, Massachusetts to the parents of Jeremiah and Bertha Lynch, Ginny was a 1945 graduate of Newburyport High School. She resided in Madeira, Ohio raising her six children, before returning to the Newburyport area in the 70's. She is survived by five children, Chip, and wife, Tina of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jane Hamm-Noyes, and husband, Jim of Raymond, NH., Julie Johnson, Jeanne Arango, and husband, José, Sean, and wife, Julie, all of Salisbury.
Gin lived an active life. Retired from AT&T Telephone Company in 1982, volunteering at the Salvation Army, playing cards and meeting for breakfast with devoted friends. She enjoyed her bowling league and bingo friends. As a prolific reader, Gin had a tremendous love of books; she frequented the Salisbury Public Library, reading multiple books in a week. Routinely completing the crossword puzzle in the Newburyport Daily News brought her great satisfaction. Her greatest joy was spending the summer months surrounded by family and friends at the beach.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Kerri and Erin Hopkinson, Kaitlyn Browning, Chad Doughman and Zachary Johnson of Ohio, David Doughman of Germany, Scott Hamm and family of Raymond, N.H., Sean Hamm of Seabrook Beach, Jennifer Hamm of California, Joshua Arango of Colorado, Carlina Arango of Cape Cod, Sara and Julia Arango, Mitchell, Liora, and Aaron Hopkinson all of Salisbury. In addition, she is survived by seven great-grandchildren, her sister Geraldine Murphy and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Johnny, and her brothers, Bob and Jerry Lynch.
The family has requested a private memorial service followed by a Celebration of Life with family and friends at a later date.
