Evelyn J. Gorgacz, 91, of 318 Rhodes Place passed away the evening of Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at UPMC Jameson Memorial Hospital.
Evelyn was born Feb. 18, 1926, in Harlansburg. She was a daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Kopski Bakuhn.
Evelyn was married to Stanley F. Gorgacz. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2002. They were married for 52 years.
Evelyn was of the Russian Orthodox Faith.
Mrs. Gorgacz was a graduate of Harlansburg High School.
Mrs. Gorgacz retired after 40 years of service as a caterer for the Lawrence Club.
She will be remembered by her family as a loving sister and mother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and her cats.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Debra A. (Robert) DeVries of Hinesville, Georgia; brother, Jacob "Jake" (Audrey) Bakuhn of New Wilmington; sister, Jacquelyn "Jackie" (Tom) Santillo of Volant; her cat, Tootsie; several grand dogs; and special caregiver, Kim (Chris) Emery.
In addition to her parents and husband Stanley, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary "Toostsie" Offredo, Jennie Aleck and Lenora Bakuhn.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7p.m. Monday at the Noga Funeral Home Inc., 1142 S. Mill St.
A funeral service will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Richard S. Salley, pastor of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, will officiate.
Entombment will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
