Gerald R. Mauch, 79, passed away Sunday afternoon, Jan. 7 at his residence in Zionsville. He was a longtime Zionsville resident.
He was born July 10, 1938 in Chicago to John and Marie (Schmitz) Mauch. He married Barbara Surso on Nov. 25, 1961 in Indianapolis. She survives.
Other survivors include four children, Laura (Kevin) Starkey, of Whitestown, Stephen Mauch, of Zionsville, Susan Mauch, of Zionsville, and Timothy (Anne Marie Clevenger) Mauch, of Holland, Michigan; two brothers and two sisters, Donald (Florence) Mauch, of Ft. Wayne, Carol Mauch, of Ft. Wayne, Marlene (Dale) Scherman, of Ft. Wayne and John (Connie) Mauch, of Indianapolis; one grandson, Matthew (Samantha Sanders) Starkey; one great grandson, Finlay Starkey; and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald was a longtime certified public accountant in Zionsville.
His volunteer activities had quite an impact on the area, including the Zionsville Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a former "Man of the Year", awarded by the Zionsville Chamber of Commerce. He assisted with the Lincoln Park Concert Series, and the Zionsville Little League. He was also a volunteer at Conner Prairie in Noblesville. He was an active member of St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church.
Calling hours will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, with a funeral mass to follow at 1 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, 1870 W. Oak Street.
