Glenn Leon Ross, 99, son of Frank and Rebecca Jane Green Ross, was born Sept. 13, 1918, the 13th child of this union, in Lost Creek Township. Leon departed this life on Feb. 9, 2018.
He graduated from Glenn High School in 1936. He attended Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, from 1939-1941. He entered the army Dec. 8, 1941. His military service took him to many places in Europe. In October 1945, he returned to Cleveland and was united in marriage to Eunice Lewis on June 20, 1956. He worked for many years at the United States Post Office. Following his retirement, he returned to Terre Haute to live out the rest of his life.
Leon is survived by nieces, Dorothy Ross of Terre Haute, Susan Ross Kambon of Long Beach, Calif. Shirley Langley of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and nephews, Norman Ross of Cathedral City, Calif., William Dale Anderson of Wilmington, Del., James Warren Ross of Indianapolis, Louis Kent Ross of Indianapolis, Marvin Edwards of Houston, Texas, and Leroy Edwards of Wilmington, N.C. He also leaves many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
Military rites will be Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Stewart Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Lost Creek Grove.
