J.B. Dooley, 86, of Lone Oak passed away peacefully Dec. 4, 2017, in Greenville surrounded by his children and other members of his family. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Tommy Witt officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Interment will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery.
Born Nov. 10, 1931, in the Prairie Valley Community near Lone Oak, J.B. Dooley was the son of Tate and Jewel Bynum Dooley. He married Virginia Harris at Point United Methodist Church on Nov. 18, 1951. He worked for ESCO Mfg. Co. for 35-plus years and was a lifelong farmer and rancher. He served for many years on the Lone Oak ISD school board and also on the board of the Hunt County Farm Bureau. He was a member of Prairie Valley Baptist Church.
His survivors include his son, Brandon Dooley and wife Noreen of Katy; daughters Carolyn Bowen of Lone Oak, Pam Hidler of Greenville, and Gayle Dooley Rodgers and husband John of Plano; brother E.J. Dooley of Conroe; sisters Donna Robinson of Greenville and Sue Luhn of Lone Oak; grandchildren Sarah Doucette and husband Joey, Justin James and wife Sophia,
Jackson Rodgers, McKenna Dooley, and Shaylen Dooley; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; parents; and brother Arnie Dooley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Prairie Valley Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 9273, Greenville, TX 75404.
Pallbearers will be Justin James, Jackson Rodgers, Micah McCallum, Matthew McCallum, Jeremiah McCallum, Scott Luhn, Garry Harris and Richard Hogue.
