James Edward Olsen, 68 of Cochranton died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Meadville Medical Center following a lengthy illness. Born, November 22, 1949 in Meadville, he was the son of Lyle and Oraleah Wheeling Olsen. He married Deborah Sutley on April 26, 1968 and she survives.
He was a 1967 graduate of Cochranton High School and enlisted in the US Army on January 26, 1970 and was honorably discharged on January 16, 1973.
After returning from the military he worked at Joy Manufacturing and also was a teacher in the construction trade for Triangle Tech, Erie VoTech and retired from SCI Albion Prison.
He was a member of the Cochranton United Methodist Church, the Cochranton American Legion, Friends of Goddard State Park and enjoyed woodworking in which he made several JIMBO TOYS. He also enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Survivors include his wife Deborah of Cochranton, his mother Oraleah of Meadville, a son Timothy Olsen and his wife Brandie of Cochranton and two grandsons, Justin Olsen of Cochranton and Zackery Olsen and his wife Morgan and their expected daughter in May.
He was preceded in death by his father Lyle Olsen and a sister, Wanda Olsen.
Friends and family will be received at the DICKSON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, INC., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton on Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm and also on Saturday from 10:00am until the funeral service at 11:00am with the Rev. John Bargar, officiating.
Interment will be in the Peters Cemetery.
