John E. "Jack" Fair, 95, of Neshannock Township passed away the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at Butler VA Hospital.
Born Sept. 19, 1922, in New Castle, he was a son of the late John W. and Anna Marino Fair.
On Oct. 26, 1946, he married his beloved wife, the former Clara Lamorella, and the two of them spent more than 42 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death on May 1, 1989.
Jack worked as a machine operator for Johnson Bronze Corporation. He then retired in 1986 as a custodian for Westminster College.
Jack served his country as a member of the Army in Europe during World War II, where he was awarded three battle stars.
He was a member and usher for St. Vitus Church.
For many years, he was a member of the American Legion Post 343, Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 455, Sons of Italy and he formerly served as a longtime officer of GNC Federal Credit Union.
Jack is survived by his children, Jerry Fair and wife, Gail, of Mobile, Alabama, and Anne Martini and husband, George, of Austintown, Ohio; sisters, Evelyn Vitanovich and Laura Caravella, both of New Castle; and grandchildren, Catherine and Elizabeth Fair.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas L. and Joseph Fair; and sisters, Marie Diana, Evelyn Fair, Margaret Fair and Dorothy Fazzone.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.
The New Castle Area Honor Guard will conduct military rites at 9:20 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday to attend a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. at St. Vitus Church, officiated by the Rev. Frank Almade.
Interment will take place in St. Vitus Cemetery.
