On February 15, 2018, the sweet, gentle spirit of John Howland Rigsbee left this world to be with his Holy Father. Born on July 31, 1925, John was the second of four children to Albert (Bertie) and Elizabeth (Betsy) and was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and great-grandfather.
John is survived by his wife of 69 years Carole, his children Richard (Heidi), Rebecca McDonald, Daniel (Karen), John (Diana) and Deborah Milam (Dave), his grandchildren Laura Rigsbee, Kyle McDonald (Katie), Brian Rigsbee, Sarah Rigsbee and Emily Rigsbee, and his two great-granddaughters Lillie and Grace McDonald.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Al, and daughter-in-law, Jean.
John spent his entire ninety-two years in Posey Township as a farmer and devoted family man. He faithfully attended services at the Blue River Wesleyan Church, and was often asked to share his beautiful tenor voice in a special song. Later in life, John developed a passion for woodworking and lovingly crafted precious keepsakes for each of his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters.
To know John was to love him. To be his friend was to be a friend for life. He lived his life full of compassion, devotion, and kindness. He will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Blue River Wesleyan Church.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 18, from 2 - 6 p.m. at Moster Mortuary, 334 North Main Street, Rushville, IN. A funeral service will be held privately for the family members.
