Kenneth Earl Allison, 84, of Oskaloosa, died Monday, November 13, 2017, at the Hospice Serenity House. He was born June 10, 1933 at Eddyville, the son of Clarence Howard and Alfa Fay Seifert Allison. He graduated from the Eddyville High School with the class of 1951. Early in his adult life, he worked at Morrells in Ottumwa; then a gas station in Ottumwa; later worked for M. and St. L. Railroad for a short time; and then for Iowa Power and Light Co. for 40 years before retiring as a serviceman in 1995. On June 29, 1951, Kenneth was united in marriage to Shirley Jean Ferns at Oskaloosa. He enjoyed hunting and fishing; yard games; and horse shoes. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Oskaloosa.
His family includes his wife, Shirley of Oskaloosa; two sons, Steven Allison of Eddyville and Kenny Allison of Oskaloosa; a grandson whom they raised, Steven Allison Jr. of Eddyville; 7 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and four sisters: Evelyn Lobberecht, Phyllis Rozenboom, Betty Van Loon, and Wilma Williams, all of Eddyville; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Aalsburg, a son in law: Darwin Aalsburg; and two brothers: Robert and Bill Allison.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with the Reverend Dr. Doug Smiley officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery, Oskaloosa. Visitation will begin at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Wednesday after 2 p.m. and the family will be present on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until service time to greet friends and relatives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made to the Calvary Bible Church.
