Kenneth Gerald "Ken" Wood Sr., 83, of State Route 22, Plattsburgh, died Dec. 6, 2017, at the UVM Health Network, CVPH in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Plattsburgh, April 10, 1934, the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Turner) Wood.
Ken was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School. He was employed at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base for 22 years, Norco Concrete, and drove cement truck for the 1980 Winter Olympics.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting with his son, fishing, gardening, and making furniture for family and friends.
Left to cherish the memory of Ken is his wife of 62 years, Margaret (Tripp) Wood; children, Denise Morgan and husband Tom and Kenneth Wood Jr. and companion Cheryl Bronson; grandchildren, Ashley Anctil and husband Chris and Dean Akey and wife Cassandra; great-grandsons, Landon Akey and TJ Twing; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Leo Wood, Raymond Wood, Florence Brown, Barbara Riley, Marion Mitchell, and Esther Covey.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alan D. Shnob, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Alexander's Cemetery, Morrisonville.
