Lake "Tommy'' Shoemaker Jr., 60, died Friday, November 10, 2017, at his home on the Dawson-Springdale Rd.
Born June 28, 1957 at Clifton Forge Virginia, he was the son of the late Lake Thomas and Elizabeth Dixon Callison Shoemaker.
Tommy was a machinist by trade and was employed by ABB for 29 years. He then became employed by the West Virginia District Nine DOH. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. He enjoyed spending time with family, the outdoors, working on cars and tractors, and serving as a coach and mentor for many years as his daughter grew up with sports. He was a great story-teller and was known for his one-of-a-kind sense of humor. Tommy was a member of the Meadow Grove Baptist Church, Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lake and Elizabeth Shoemaker, and sisters, Elizabeth Ann "Libby'' Williams and Margaret "Margie" Shoemaker.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 30 years, Linda Shoemaker, and a daughter Leslie Shoemaker, both of Springdale; Surviving siblings include brother, Charles "Ted" Shoemaker (Tammy) of Rainelle, sisters, Mary Helmick of Lewisburg, Jackalee Palmer (Don) of Havelock, NC, Debby Holbrook (Bill) of King George, VA; an aunt, Patricia Deitz of Titusville, FL; Nieces and nephews, Victoria Lynn Baxley, Karen Susie Helmick, Amanda Scroggins, Jeffery Palmer, Amy Williams, Jonathan, Andrew, Stephen, and Christa Holbrook, and Nicholas and Patrick Shoemaker; many great nieces and nephews; several cousins, and a host of extended family.
Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 16 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle with Rev. Les. Mullens officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may call Wednesday evening, at the chapel from 6-8 p.m.
