Linda (Koski) Kennedy, age 76, born in Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away peacefully in Northern Virginia, with her family at her side, on February 10, 2018.
Linda is survived by her son, Ryan and wife Jennifer in Ashburn, Va.; and grandchildren Joshua, Grayce, Ava and Zachary; her brother, Clyde Koski and wife Nancy of Ashtabula; her nephews, Kevin Koski and wife Katherine of Ashtabula, Brian and wife Gina of Mentor, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by Michael Buckner, Jimmie Kennedy of Farmington, N.M.; her parents, Niles and Bertha Koski of Ashtabula, Ohio.
Linda grew up in the Harbor neighborhood of Ashtabula. She graduated from Harbor High School in 1959.
In 1960, Linda joined the United States Navy and served three years in the medical corps at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Maryland.
Linda moved to Denver, Colorado in 1965 where she met Michael Buckner, Linda married Michael in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Linda spent 44 years in Farmington, N.M. For almost thirty years, her cheerleader voice and outgoing personality were present in the stands at the annual Connie Mack World Series. She survived cancer in the 1970s and was often the first to offer support to others with cancer. Linda retired from a long career with the City of Farmington Public Utilities Dept. and later often volunteered at Farmington's Connelly House for families of cancer patients.
Linda married Jim Kennedy in 1996. Linda and Jim spent time boating and camping at Navajo Lake and adventuring around the world visiting countries.
A memorial bench in Linda's name will be dedicated by friends and family at Berg Park, in Farmington, N.M.
Linda's family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Capital Caring Hospice and the Adler House in Aldie, Va. and Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg, Va.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
