Lindsey Paul "L.P." Grant, 91, of Wardville, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at his home.
The family will welcome friends at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Cowboy Church with Pastor Mitch Arteberry officiating. Burial will follow at White Chimney Cemetery near Stuart.
Pallbearers are sons and grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are Lloyd Burnett, Jerry Killian, Clyde Weeden and Clark Rhyne.
Paul Grant was born on Aug. 2, 1926, in the White Chimney Community near Stuart, to J.J. "Jack" and Eva Grant. Because his father was a sharecropper, the family moved around a lot and Paul attended school at Pine Hollow, Arpelar, Haywood and Stuart.
He went into the United States Navy during World War II. After his military service he moved back here and worked at the McAlester Navy Ammunition Depot. He transferred to Grand Prairie, Texas, to the Vought Corporation, then retired to Wardville where he ranched the rest of his life.
Paul was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He married Edith Marie Andrews in 1986, and between them, there were 10 children, Lindsey Lee, Myra, Paula Kay, who is deceased, Kari Lynne, Farron, Charles, John, Ed, DeVry, also deceased, Robert, and Karen Lenea, also deceased. Paul had 30-plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
