Marcia's Story

Text size

Marcia Rose Adams, 81, died on December 5, 2017, in Machias. She was born on April 10, 1936, the daughter of the late Herbert and Pearl Rose of Yarmouth. She met and married the love of her life, John W. Adams on July 1, 1967, while working at Milliken Thomlinson IGA Foodliner's. John and Marcia resided in Westbrook where they raised three daughters, Darlene Marie, Christine MacLean, and Lisa Jean.
Marcia enjoyed camping with John and friends. Upon retiring, Marcia and John decided to spend the rest of their days together in Starboard, ME, in the house her father built over looking Starboard Cove. They would spend many mornings sitting on the deck with binoculars watching the comings and goings of neighbors and wild life. Marcia enjoyed knitting, and had a passion for playing cards, cribbage being her favorite. Marcia remained a lifetime member of the Amvets Post 6 in New Gloucester, Maine, and was also a member of the American Legion Post #9 in Machias volunteering her services where needed. She also volunteered at the Maine Veteran's Home in Machias, ME.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Lund of Machias; three daughters, Darlene Newton of Gray, Christine Adams of Windham, and Lisa Adams-Gill of Westbrook; son-in-law, Darrell E. Gill; five grandchildren, Shawn, Samantha and husband, Michael, Jeffrey, Darren and Danene; six great-grandchildren, Gianna, Logan, Anthony, Olivia, Emersyn, and Jalyn. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews. And let us not forget her love for her great-grand-puppies, Chickie and Emma!
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John; and a brother, Philip Rose of Starboard.
Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at the Roque Bluffs Community Chapel with Pastor David Gardiner officiating. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband John at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta the following day, Tuesday, December 12th at 1 p.m. A Celebration of her life will also be held at the Amvets Post #6 in New Gloucester to be announced at a later date.
