Mark Wayne Rouse, 55, of Danville, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at OSF HealthCare in Urbana, Ill., with his family by his side.
Born December 5, 1962, in Danville, he was the son of John Henry Rouse, Joan Ellen Powell (Rouse), (Morse), and his stepfather, Thomas Morse.
In 1985, Mark married Lori Pickett. They later divorced.
He is survived by three children, Ryan, Derrick and Brittaney Rouse, all of Danville; one sibling, Deanna (John) Johnson of Danville; three step-siblings, Donald Morse of West Lafayette, Ind., Thomas (Linda) Morse of California and Leah (Mohammad) Omay of Amman, Jordan; six grandchildren, Marc Rouse, Mia Trimble, Alexander Rouse, Colton Morgan, Makenzie Pledger and Abby Smith all of Danville; numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Julie; and his stepfather.
Mark graduated from Danville High School. Mark worked as a busboy, dishwasher, line stocker, cook and janitor for George's Buffet from the time he was a young man to the time the restaurant closed, about 27 years. He later worked at Ryder Bus Garage for a short time as a bus monitor and Ayerco Gas Station as a gas attendant until the early onset of his illness. But, his most enjoyable job was cutting grass and shoveling snow for many in the community, which he had done since he was 13 years old up to the time his illness began to become more aggressive.
Mark was a simple and easy-going soul. He loved to tease people just to get a rise out of them, but he never meant any harm. He made many people laugh and smile. Mark loved singing karaoke, especially the song "Elvira," which his sister Julie loved. Mark was very happy working in the yard every year planting petunias with his daughter, Brittaney. Mark enjoyed his collection of eagles.
Mark fought a good fight all the way up to the end. God saw he was weary and came to take him home to heaven to rest. He will be missed by many.
Per wishes of Mark and the family, the family will be having private services. Condolences may be sent to leekandsonsfuneralhome.com
