Mary Lou Haddix Thomas, 86, passed away Sat., Nov. 11, 2017 at Compassionate Care Center.
She was born in Breathitt Co., Ky., the daughter of the late Alex and Martha Nettie Lasher Haddix. She graduated from Madison High School in 1948 and earned a B. A. Degree in Business and Communications from Eastern Ky. University at the age of 75. Retired as a Medical Assistant from St. Joseph Hospital, she enjoyed sewing and knitting and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Gary Thomas; a grandson, Spencer Thomas, two great-grandsons, Paul Hayden and Blake Thomas; a brother, Ralph Haddix; four nieces, Betty K. Miller, Ann McAlpin, Susie Maple and Becky Ostermeijer; a nephew, David McAlpin.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Ann Thomas; two sisters, Jenny McAlpin and Betty Ruth Haddix.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1 PM Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Nettleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Haddix Cemetery at Lost Creek in Breathitt Co., Ky.
