Patricia's Story

Patricia M. Hooley, Ligonier, 89, went to her heavenly home at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, at Hubbard Hill Estates, Elkhart.
She was born May 10, 1928, in Elkhart County to Joseph and Lucille (Hess) Rohrer. On Sept. 10, 1949, she married Max H. Hooley at Bethel Missionary Church. He died Jan. 2, 1993.
Surviving are daughters, Janice (Kevin) Linehan of Silver Lake, Louise (Joe) Winn, Ligonier, Diane Hooley, Fort Wayne; son, Leland (Mary) Hooley, Ligonier; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, J.R. (Marilyn) Rohrer, Elkhart.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband and sisters, Helen Frantz and Joan McBrier.
Patricia was a member of New Paris Missionary Church and loved her church family. She accepted Christ at age 7 at Bethel Missionary Church and at age 14 she started teaching Sunday School for children. She was a 1946 graduate of Wakarusa High School and graduated from Goshen College in 1947 with a one-year secretarial degree. Also in 1947, she won 4-H Fair Grand Champion Steer. Patricia was secretary to the Elkhart County Extension Agent from 1947-1949 and worked at Group Dekko, Noble County, as a wire cutter for 33 years. She loved her family, helping on the farm and gardening.
Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen, and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service Wednesday, Feb. 14, at New Paris Missionary Church, 67621 Ind. 15, New Paris. Pastor David Hackney will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka. Memorials may be directed to New Paris Missionary Church.
