Robert's Story

Robert E. "Bob" Hill went to be with the Lord and his loving wife Juanita on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2018, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Cresaptown.
Born in Frostburg, on Oct. 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Earl R. and Myrtle Jane (Boor) Hill. Robert moved at the age of three to Cresaptown where he spent the rest of his life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita (Bridges) Hill, who passed away in 2007. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Aloma Rose Hill.
Robert was a member of Cresaptown United Methodist Church where he served as a church greeter and usher. Robert left school at the age of 16, and he became employed as a Western Union Telegraph Lineman in Wilmington, Del., in order to support his family. In 1962, Robert joined the International Brick Layers and Allied Craft Workers Union and worked as a skilled brick layer and stone mason until his retirement in 1998.
In his early years, Robert was a member of the Maryland Army National Guard and Reservist. He was one of the cofounders of the Cresaptown Eagles Arie 2883 in 1966; he was a life member of the organization. He was a member of the Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Company No. 9, a member of the Cresaptown Sportsman Club, and he was an avid deer hunter and morel mushroom gatherer. Most of all, he loved riding his four wheeler.
Robert is survived by his three children, Chet A. Hill and wife Paula, Cresaptown, Kelly S. (Hill) Cordial, Cresaptown, and Christopher R. Hill and wife Tina, Cresaptown; grandchildren, Matthew W. Hill and wife Shanna, Dustin A. Hill and Nateka Crawford, Nathan P. Cordial and fiancée, Michelle Collins, Tara Cunningham and fiancé Justin Skiff, step-grandchildren, Hope Vanmeter and husband Keith, Kayla Jackson and husband C.J. and Sonnie Mckenzie; great-grandchildren, Heston J. Hill and Sawyer J. Hill; step-great-grandchildren, Kolby, Mia, Alex, Luke, and Skylar; and special friend and companion, Jean Hite.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 15205 McMullen Hwy SW, Cresaptown, Friday, Feb. 16, 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Hal Atkins officiating and the Reverend Harold McClay assisting. Interment will be in Lease Cemetery.
Military honors will be accorded at the gravesite by Ft. Cumberland Post 13 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Hill, Dustin Hill, Nathan Cordial, Justin Skiff, Ritchie Shepherd, and Gino D'Giusseppi.
