Robert Wayne Mann, 80, died on January 10, 2018, at his home in Dexter with his wife and sister by his side. He was born in Belfast on January 20, 1937, the son of Donald and Julia (Meigs) Mann.
He graduated from Bucksport High School class of 1955. During his senior year he joined the Air National Guard in Bangor and after graduation joined the Air Force where he proudly served for 23 years. During his career he was stationed in Texas, Denver, CO, Orlando, FL, Okinawa, Fresno, CA, Lakenheath RAF Station, UK, and Nellis AFB in Nevada. He retired in 1979 with the rank of Master Sergeant. After leaving the Air Force he moved to Dexter and worked at Fayscott Machine Shop and Dexter Shoe Company, retiring in 1999.
Bob was a diehard Patriots fan and has numerous memorabilia. He married Elsie Colby Good on September 3, 1995, at Bucksport Senior Center.
Bob was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Ronald and David.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; sister, Linda Mann Dickson and her husband, Arthur, of FL; sister-in-law, Jayne Mann of Trenton; children, Phillip Mann of Dexter, Kimberley Mahon and her husband, John, of MA, and Paul Mann and his wife, Francesca. of Waterville; grandchildren, Christopher Mann of Lincoln, Victoria, Paul Jr., and Steven Mann all of Waterville, Nathan Crowell of OK, Brian Crowell of MA, Meaghan Crowell of MA, Matthew and Rebecca Mahon of MA; great-grandson, Mason Mann of Waterville; and great-granddaughter, Jordyn Mann of Augusta. He is also survived by Elsie's children and grandchildren, Terry Good and wife, Dawn, of Bangor, Keith Good of Hampden, Julie Russell and husband, Cary, Ashley Wright, and Haley Grant all of KS; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at the Bucksport Senior Center.
A chapel service and burial with military honors will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the Wounded Warriors Project.
