Roland D. 'Deacon' Frederick, 92, died 10th November, 2017, at his residence in Pompano Beach, FL, after a short illness.
Mr. Frederick was born on 28th April, 1925, in Pittsfield, Maine, to Doris (Cianchette) Frederick Ashe and Joseph Frederick. He graduated from Maine Central Institute (MCI) in Pittsfield in May, 1943, where he was his Class Chaplain. He enlisted into the Army in September of 1943 as part of the 82nd Airborne glider troops during World War II (discharged in February 1946). He had a successful career in the restaurant business mostly in the outer Boston areas of Mansfield and Foxborough, MA. He was a lifelong bachelor who enjoyed playing cards (and the horses), reading and discussing US history, and being with his extended family and relatives especially while watching the Boston Red Sox.
He was predeceased by both his mother and father, and his brother, Norris M. Ashe Jr. He is survived by his three nieces, Karen Ashe, Lisa Ashe, and Lorna Ashe and their families, and many cousins. Spring interment will be in the Pittsfield Village Cemetery, Pittsfield, ME.
