Ronald Guy Ravenscroft, 78, of Oldtown, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
Born March 5, 1939, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late William and Eva (Smith) Ravenscroft. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Tommy, and William Ravenscroft; and one sister, Mary Frances Cage.
Ronald worked in Baltimore, making custom cabinets. He was later employed by Crabtree's Orchard, and he went on to work for Koppers Inc. as a forklift operator for 34 years before retiring.
As someone who loved the outdoors, Ronald enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting. He also liked to work with wood; he made hutches, coffee tables, cabinets, end tables, and television stands. He could do anything and fix anything. If anyone needed help with anything, they would go to Ronald. He was a homebody who didn't like to leave Oldtown, but he loved spending time with his family at home and at the family campsite. Ronald leaves behind a family and two dogs who will always love and miss him very much.
Surviving Ronald are his wife of 53 and a half years, Vivian L. (Davis) Ravenscroft; daughter, Tina Ravenscroft and William Kesner, Oldtown; son, Rodney Ravenscroft, Oldtown; granddaughter, Angela Dolly and husband Justin, Flintstone; great-grandchildren, Bryson Troutman, Olivia Dolly, and Conor Dolly; and sisters, Martina Walton and Doris Anderson.
In accordance with Ronald's wishes, his body will be cremated, and there will be no visitation or services.
