Steven's Story

Steven Charles Buchanan, 48, of Warner Robins, Ga., formerly of Flatwoods, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at his home, following an extended illness.
Steve was born April 10, 1969, in Ashland, the son of Charles and Linda Buchanan of Flatwoods.
He was a 1987 graduate of Russell High School and a member of Russell High School Band and formerly attended the First Christian Church of Ashland.
Steven proudly served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an aircraft recovery specialist at the MCAS in Beaufort, S.C.
Steve loved to fish, listen to music and watch UK Basketball games.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Diana Daniels and husband Paul of Flatwoods; a grandfather, Charles Gannon of Ashland; a niece, Katherine Anne "Katie" Daniels of Fairborn, Ohio; a nephew, Michael Ross Daniels of Flatwoods; an uncle, William Joseph "Bill" Gannon and wife Paula of Ashland; two cousins, Jeff Gannon and wife Rhonda of Catlettsburg and Jason Gannon and wife Beth of Simpsonville, S.C.; an uncle, James Buchanan and wife Betty of Resaca, Ga.; a cousin, Michael Buchanan and wife Tammy of Rasaca; an aunt, Sue Hensley and husband Ken of Rock Hill, S.C.; three cousins, Kim, Kathy and Karen; an aunt, Nancy Andrews and husband Don of Silver Springs, Fla.; two cousins, John and Christina; and best friend, Timothy Tanner of Richmond.
A memorial service was at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Preston Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Isaac "Ike" Nicholson officiating.
Visitation was from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Graveside rites with full military honors will be Wednesday, November 15, at 1 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County. Honors presented by the Aerican Legion Post 93 of Ceredo-Kenova, West Virginia, and the Marine Corps League Greenbo Detachment.
