Timothy's Story

Text size

Dr. Timothy "Tim" D. Lavin, 56, formerly of Sharon, completed his journey to God on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, while a patient at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, following a heart attack on Dec. 24, 2017.
Tim was born July 31, 1961, one of four children born to James and Evelyn "Ruth" Lavin. He was a graduate of Kennedy Christian High School and Gannon University. Tim earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He worked as a physician at Concerta Medical Group in New Orleans, where he treated his patients as if they were family. Tim was the recipient of the Concerta Hall of Fame Award in 2015.
Tim loved cooking for family and friends on weekends. Besides providing the week's meals for his family, it was not unusual for Tim to fill his college-bound daughters' deep freezers full of soups and his special sauce and meatballs, just as he did for ailing relatives. In addition, Tim was known for the spaghetti and meatball dinners he provided for the Hahnville High School Booster Clubs and community fundraisers.
In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, visiting family and sampling hot sauces when traveling. Tim also took great joy watching football, especially the games at the Superdome. Family and friends were important to Tim, and he always went the extra mile for those he cared for. He was selfless.
Survivors include Tammi Rebella Lavin, his wife of 26 years; his five children, Briana, Christina, Carissa, Christopher and Kayla; his mother, Ruth Lavin; three siblings, Jeanne Lavin Kelly of Sharon, Dr. Daniel (Dr. Dianne) Lavin of San Antonio, Texas, and James "Brian" (Renee) Lavin of Pontotoc, Miss,; nieces, Katie Kelly, Catie Gibbons, Jamie Lavin; nephews, Josh Kelly, James Lavin, Daniel Lavin, Patrick Lavin; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Francis Lavin.

A viewing and Mass of Christian Burial were held Dec 30, 2017, at St. Susanna Catholic Church in Mason, Ohio. A Celebration of Life memorial will be held in Luling, La., Jan. 27, 2018.
