Jake Thomas Tommy Whitley, Sr., 75, of Enigma passed away Friday, January 12, 2018, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., January 16, 2018, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Mr. Whitley will be laid to rest at Enigma Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, January 15, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be gathering at 73 Laurel Creek Drive in Tifton.
Ronnie Culpepper, Danny Culpepper, Shane Bruce, Dennis Pitts, Shan Allen and Kam Allen will serve as pallbearers.
Born October 1, 1942 in Nashville, Mr. Whitley was the son of the late Virgil Whitley and Josephine Gay Whitley. He was also preceded in death by one son, Greg Whitley. Before retiring, he was employed as an insurance adjuster with Allstate Insurance Company.
Mr. Whitley is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul and Stephanie Whitley of Ailey, Jake T. Jr. and Holly Whitley of Alapaha, Mark Whitley of Chula and James Whitley of Enigma; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Shawn Crane of Columbus and Cassidy and Randy Turner of Tifton; two sisters, Patricia Whitley Kent of Lake Hartwell and Carolyn Whitley Allen of Enigma; and ten grandchildren.
